Q. How can I purchase the Histofreezer® product?
A. The Histofreezer® products are only sold through Medical/Surgical distributors. Customer Service can help you locate authorized distributors in your area.
Q. Is there reimbursement and how do we bill?
A. Cryosurgery is recognized by most insurance companies. Please see the CPT codes section of our website for more information.
Q. Can I get additional training material for the Histofreezer® kit?
A. Yes, there is a training/procedure video, patient guide pad, and in-office display available at no charge.
Q. What sizes are available?
A. H-105 - 5 applicator starter kit and
H-125 - 50 mixed applicator kit.
Q. What is included in the H-105 kit?
A. 10 minute procedure video, 3 - 5mm applicators, 2 - 2mm applicators, and a canister for 5 treatments.
Q. What is included in the H-125 kit?
A. 25 - 2mm applicators, 25 - 5mm applicators, 150 mL canister, MSDS, CPT codes and instructions.
Q. How many treatments are contained in the
H-125 canister?
A. The H-125 contains a minimum of 40 treatments with an average of 60.
Q. What types of lesions can I treat with the Histofreezer® product?
A. Verruca Vulgaris (common warts), Verruca Plantaris (plantar warts), Verruca Plana, Molluscum Contagiosum, Acrochordon (skin tags), Actinic Keratosis (solar keratosis), Lentigo (age spots), Seborrheic Keratosis, Condyloma Acuminata (genital warts)
Q. How many treatments will it take to resolve a lesion?
A. Lesions are resolved in one to four treatments with 2 week intervals between treatments.
Q. What is the shelf life?
A. Three years from the date of manufacture. Most customers receive the product with at least 24 months shelf life.
Q. Do I need to store the Histofreezer® kit in the freezer or refrigerator?
A. No, store at room temperature.
Q. How effective is the Histofreezer® product?
A. A recent study showed a 93.4% resolution rate for a variety of lesions.
Q. How many different lesions can you treat with 1 charge?
A. 5 mm applicator treats 2-6 lesions, 2 mm applicator treats 2-4 lesions. (Treatments are 15-40 seconds each).
Q. How long does the applicator stay cold?
A. 5 mm applicator - 120 seconds
2 mm applicator - 90 seconds.
Q. Do I need to repeat the freeze/thaw cycle during the visit?
A. No, a single freeze/thaw cycle is all that is necessary per office visit.
Q. The applicator bud doesn't get cold enough. What is the proper technique?
A. Hold the canister in the upright position. Charge the bud until droplets form. Stop charging, invert the canister with the bud pointing to the floor, and wait 10 to 15 seconds before treating the lesion.
Q. How cold does the applicator get?
A. The applicator temperature reaches -55°C, which minimizes risk of scarring or blistering the treatment site.
Q. Can I re-use the applicator buds?
A. No, re-use of the applicator could lead to cross-contamination. A sufficient supply of applicators is included with each kit.
